Making a Green Dent in the Universe, one Apprentice at a Time

Making a Green Dent in the Universe, one Apprentice at a Time

The race to net zero isn’t just a technology challenge, it’s a people challenge. As the UK moves to decarbonise its economy, the demand for green tech skills is exploding. But too often, opportunity is reserved for the few.

At Makers, we believe the transition to a sustainable future must be inclusive, accessible, and human-first. That’s why, as a proud B Corp, we’re thrilled to partner with Kraken, one of the most exciting companies in the UK, to launch a brand-new digital apprenticeship programme.

Together, we’re not just filling roles. We’re building the green workforce of the future.

A mission that matters

Kraken is contracted to run over  70 million customer accounts globally and is reshaping the way energy is generated, distributed, and consumed. From smart grids to renewable optimisation, Kraken is using tech to make the energy system greener, faster.

And they know it starts with people.

"I'm excited about our partnership with Makers and our upcoming apprenticeship initiative. At Kraken, we're not just looking for coders; we're seeking future innovators, problem-solvers to help us make a big green dent in the universe. Think of it as a launchpad into an exciting tech career.

Why Makers? Because they get it. They're masters at turning raw potential into real-world skills.

And why Kraken? Because we believe in investing in people and building a team that's as dynamic and forward-thinking as the tech we create."

A partnership for potential

This apprenticeship pathway is designed for people with grit, curiosity, and a desire to learn not just a background in tech. Learners will complete an intensive coding bootcamp at Makers before joining Kraken’s engineering team to gain real-world experience.

It’s a chance to do meaningful work, from day one.

Kraken is one of the most exciting companies in the world today. It's powering the green transition and growing at lightning speed. We couldn't be more delighted to be working with them to find innovators and problem solvers from all backgrounds to join their tech teams and help make a big green dent in the universe.

Kicking things off in style

To mark the beginning of this partnership, Kraken will be hosting a welcome event on Tuesday 20th May at their London HQ, where apprentices will meet the senior leadership team, connect with the Makers crew, and get their first taste of life at Kraken.

Built for the transition

With climate, tech, and work all changing fast, we need more than just technical training. We need learners who can adapt, collaborate, and thrive in uncertainty.

That’s what Makers is built for. And that’s why this partnership works.

  • Practical training that leads to real outcomes

  • Human support every step of the way

  • Apprentices who are ready to contribute from day one

At the heart of it all is Learning Quotient, our core belief that the ability to learn fast is the single most important skill in today’s economy.

Let's Build the Future Together
