If you’ve ever wanted to work in technology, this could be the opportunity to make the career change you’ve been looking for. Accenture is offering aspiring software engineers to join them as part of their apprenticeships programme. You’ll start your new career journey by training with Makers first – and you won’t have to pay a thing. In fact, you’ll get paid from day one.

As part of the programme, you will attend a 12 week bootcamp at the Makers site in East London. This will provide the foundation for helping you to achieve the Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship. 

After your 12 weeks with Makers you will start working with Accenture to continue with on the job training. This will consist of a nine month placement where you’ll work within an Accenture team to create first class software engineering solutions.

Software Engineering Apprentice Programme

On this programme you’ll get to work with some of the most advanced technologies on the market, develop industry-leading specialist skills and help transform our clients around the world.

A key team member, you’ll be creating the innovative technical solutions we’re renowned for and driving technology development programmes for deployment in a variety of environments. As well as understanding what our clients want to achieve, you’ll discover what’s possible within their existing framework and explore the best technologies to achieve the most effective results. Working with onshore and offshore teams, you’ll take part in a number of challenging projects for a range of clients, across a variety of industries.

Who is this for?

You’ll need a degree in any discipline and be able to demonstrate a real passion for technology, as well as an understanding of how it can be used. You’ll need to know a thing or two about programming languages. Overall, we’re looking for a willingness to try new things, a passion for self-improvement and a strong work ethic.

Your Journey

Makers Selection: 1-2 weeks
Applications open on June 5th 2019 and close on July 1st 2019
Apprentices must pass Makers Apprenticeships selection process.
Course: 12 weeks
Starts October 14th 2019
 Apprentices take the twelve-week programme with full coach support. The Course will enable you to become a Junior Software Engineer as well as allow you to start to build up your portfolio for your qualification.
Placement: 9 months
Starts from early 2020
You’ll start your new role at Accenture, with frequent support from our coaches. You’ll be a full-time developer just 3 months after starting the programme. You’ll continue to build your portfolio and develop your skills through this stage.
Assessment: 1 week
TBC
Apprentices are assessed according to their portfolio, project and synoptic interview performance.

 

What you’ll learn

At Accenture, it’s not just about the languages you know. Depending on the nature of the project we’ll train you in technologies such as SAP, Oracle, Java/J2EE, C#, Salesforce, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and Angular.js. We’ll also up skill you in the best delivery practices such as DevOps, Agile as well as Accenture delivery methods. You’ll also get the chance to gain a range of industry certifications.

But more than that, we want you to understand the bigger picture and develop deep industry expertise. So you’ll get to learn all about IT strategy, the Accenture Technology Vision, data centre technology, security and enterprise architecture. Plus, because of the size and scope of our business, not only will you work with big name providers like Microsoft, Oracle and SAP, but also emerging market innovators.
